Category Infos

Dioxolanes
Dioxolane is a heterocyclic acetal with the formula (CH2)2O2CH2. It is related to tetrahydrofuran by exchanging an oxygen for the CH2 group. The isomer 1,2-dioxolane (in which the two oxygen centers are adjacent) is a peroxide. 1,3-Dioxolane is used as solvent and comonomer in polyacetal. The dioxolane-type and their hydrogenolysis can provide very valuable partially protected building blocks either for oligosaccharide syntheses or sugar transformations.

Column Infos

Inavolisib
Genentech’s Phase III results show that the Inavolisib (GDC-0077) treatment meets the primary end point in hormone receptor (HR)-positive, HER2-negative, PIK3CA-mutated Breast Cancer. The combination of Inavolisib with Palbociclib and fulvestrant improves the progression-free survival (PFS) in the first line. Inavolisib is a potent selective inhibitor of PI3K alpha (PI3Kα) that binds to the ATP-binding site of p110α, and promotes the degradation of mutated p110α.
